BIOGRAPHY
Michelle Daly was raised in a small Vermont town, constantly creating and looking for adventure, she packed a car and moved west in 1999. First settling in Olympia WA, she moved to Portland in 2001. Six years and a BFA from Marylhurst University later, she is making a mark on the local art scene, exhibiting work in several group and juried shows. Most recently her work was seen in Driven to Abstraction, a show juried by Judy Cooke and the All Oregon Art Annual.
Interested in moments often felt more strongly then seen, Michelle creates layered abstract oil paintings that invoke memory, the passage of time, and the potential in the interplay between abstract and narrative storytelling. Compositions are both invented and inspired from nature, and are reworked seeking a tenuous resolution in idea, color composition and mood.
